Most job seekers do not take full advantage of the employment and career resources available on the Internet. The typical job search involves periodically checking the postings on the large well-known employment sites, posting a resume, or otherwise responding to the job postings, and waiting to be contacted by a potential employer or recruiter. Most online job seekers do not find employment on the large well-known sites such as Monster or CareerBuilder. The well-known sites are over utilized and many speciality or niche sites are far less competitive and should be incorporated into your employment search. Most job seekers spend too much time and effort using traditional search engines such as Google to find resources to use. Looking for resources is not very productive and does nothing to advance your career or help you find a suitable position. If you can find a resource using Google, so can your competition and the resources easily located are usually highly competitive and over utilized. The best way to use the Internet is to use a site that has all the resources you need consolidated into one location so you don't waste any time looking for material. You should have access to and include the less competitive and underutilized resources into your online job search activities. With so many resources available you must concentrate your efforts on the activities most likely to produce actual results. We have compiled a brief introduction to the employment and career resources available and how and why you should use them in your job search. Not all of the resources are suitable to every situation but most of the resources should be used to maximize the value of the Internet as a career and job search tool.
